DRESDNER OSTERN - Current developments
The Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and his Minister of Health Petra Köpping announced in a press release today all events with more than 1000 guests are not allowed to take place because of the Corona virus. Today the MESSE DRESDEN canceled the DRESDNER OSTERN and therfore the INTERNATIONALE ORCHIDEENWELT. All our fears came true.
The Deutsche Orchideen-Gesellschaft is very sad about this development but we agree with this decision. This is the right step to prevent the Corona virus from spreading too quickly. The balancing act between crisis mode and prudence is a great balancing act in such exceptional situations, which is difficult to master. We understand the questions, excitement, and requests for information that you have made online over the past few days. We had also been aware for a few days that a cancellation of the DRESDNER OSTERN was almost inevitable. An official announcement was not in our hands.
Of course, MESSE DRESDEN did not take this decision lightly. After all, such an incredibly time and cost intensive spring fair cannot simply be postponed to summer or autumn and the cancellation means a huge financial loss.
It makes us incredibly sad to have to do without our exhibition jewel this year and therefore not be able to welcome you to Dresden. But let's be positive: After Dresden is before Dresden - see you next year!
Until then, stay healthy, wash your hands regularly and don't panic, because panic has never been a good advisor...
...and enjoy your orchids at home.
